We hear about black mold but rarely does it hit home. We have real estate disclosures about it but do we really understand the scope of it? My friends and neighbors have experienced it first-hand and the negative impact on their daughter’s health is definitely real! We’ve had a rainy winter season here in San Diego and what seemed like a pesky yet harmless leaky window has proven to be anything but harmless…the leaky window triggered the growth of black mold. This insidious mold has triggered a series of severe asthma attacks in their daughter which has led to choking spells and her airway being closed off resulting in several visits to the emergency room, a late night 911 call and several nights at Children’s Hospital, not to mention several weeks of missed school for an otherwise healthy child. This family’s world has literally been turned upside down because of the presence of mold in their home so take note and be vigilant in your own homes. I continue to pray for my friends and their daughter and am glad they found the trigger to her asthma attacks and are remedying the situation, but MOLD is definitely known as the 4 letter word in real estate for a reason!

FYI – California Highway Patrol has plans to close I-15 for two hours on Thursday, tentatively scheduled for the hours of 9am-11am, while they burn the “bomb factory” house in Escondido.
